Devant, the great British magician of the day, was elected the first President
and the Society held meetings in a variety of venues before moving to the present
permanent headquarters in 1998.
The Latin motto of The Magic Circle is 'Indocilis Privata Loqui' which roughly translates as 'Not apt to disclose secrets'. All members promise not to reveal secrets other than to magicians or bona fide students of magic.
Throughout it's long history, The Magic Circle has grown and today in undoubtedly the premier magical society in the world. Members meet each Monday and produce regular public events. The amazing headquarters building has also become an award-winning venue for private and corporate hire, helping the Society to promote and advance the art of magic worldwide.
